Our Company

Aarlie Hull
FOUNDER / MANAGING DIRECTOR

Aarlie Hull is the company’s co-founder and currently serves as its Managing Director.  A graduate of the University of Washington, Aarlie and her husband, retired orthopedic surgeon Larry Hull, have years of successful business experience under their belts.  Aarlie is well-known in the specialty coffee industry and has been the driving force behind the firm’s strategic development.  Aarlie oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm, both in the USA and PNG.

Aarlie and her husband also founded Na Wokabaut in 2008 (as the logical formalization of their years of community development efforts), a US- and PNG-based non-profit organization that seeks to foster economic and social development in the coffee producing regions of Papua New Guinea.  Aarlie has five children and eight grandchildren and when in the US, makes her home in Centralia, Washington.

Dean Hull
DIRECTOR IN CHARGE OF FINANCE AND SALES

Dean Hull serves as the firm’s Director in charge of finance, sales, and development. The youngest son of Larry and Aarlie Hull, Dean spent the immediate years upon graduating from college in El Salvador where he spent many of his days off  learning that nation’s coffee industry. Upon returning to the United States, Dean moved to Washington, DC to attend graduate school.  Dean is in charge of all finance-related issues, general business development, financial hedging, and sales outside of North America for the company. Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and Masters degrees in finance and international development (economics and business development emphasis) from The American University.  He is fluent in English and Spanish and tends to "get by" in Tok Pisin.

Dean, his wife Laura and daughter Reyna make their full time home in San Antonio, TX, USA.

Cole Arendt
NORTH AMERICAN SPOT SALES MANAGER

Officially joining the firm in 2005, Cole Arendt is in charge of all Canadian and U.S. and Canadian SPOT sales for the company as well as all matters related to logistics and ocean freight into North America.  A refugee from the non-profit world, Cole learned the ropes of the specialty coffee industry in record time, instantly excelling in customer care and logistics coordination. A graduate of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, Cole is well traveled, and has spent considerable time “on the road” in North America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.  Married with two daughters, Cole lives on Washington State’s beautiful San Juan Island a stone's throw outside the town of Friday Harbor.  Cole and his wife Amy also operate High Country Coffee, which supplies the growing legions of home coffee roasters with direct-from-source green coffee from the Madan Plantation and other farms represented by New Guinea Traders, LLC, the company's US-based trading arm; as well as the company's Compassion Coffee Campaign which supplies community-based organizations with our roasted coffees at cost for use in local fundraising efforts.
